Abrasive Wheels Course

This course is designed to provide delegates with the skills and knowledge needed to select and mount abrasive wheels safely and in accordance with the correct regulations. The training covers the hazards and risks associated with the use of abrasive wheels, as well as covering various equipment types including bench grinders, angle grinders and petrol cut off machines. The course is not designed to show delegates how to best use the equipment once the abrasive wheel is fitted.

Bench grinder
Angle grinder
Petrol cut off

• Hazards and risks when mounting and using abrasive wheels (including vibration white finger)
• PPE requirements
• Methods of marking
• Storing, handling and transporting
• Testing and inspecting
• Function of components
• Correct mounting procedures and balancing
• Dressing
• Adjustment of work rest and guards.

Other Information

The Abrasive Wheels training will be done at your premises. A classroom, office or suitable area with a plug socket, tables and chairs to allow for completion of theoretical course modules and paperwork must be available.
Appropriate machines to demonstrate how to operate the abrasive wheel, and an area on site where the machines can be started

A safe area of work for practical demonstrations to take place.
